This activity has become very popular among travellers and locals alike. During the rainy season (May – November), the rivers can have a higher flow of water, hence a much more exciting adrenaline experience. The river, Chiriqui Viejo, is located next to the border with Costa Rica. Levels can be from 2.5 – 3 during the dry season, up to 4.5 during the rainy season, especially in October – November.

Departure: 8 a.m. from their offices.

Duration: Depending on the river and the activity itself, sometimes it can be as fast as rafting for 1.5 hours, or as much as 3 hours. Time from Boquete to the river is about 1.5 -2 hours each way.

What to bring?

Boardshorts, a light t –shirt or a Lycra fast- drying shirt are recommended. Sunscreen is useful since the sun can be strong when in the water. Water shoes are provided by the companies. A towel is always welcome as well as a camera (if water / shock proof). Passports are mandatory, since the river is located about 15 minutes away from the border, there is a checkpoint nearby in which it is required to present documents and there are no exceptions to this.
